Background

Alicia Williams has a B.S. Degree in Agriculture: Plant and Soil Science from Univ. Tenn. at Martin (UTM) and a Master’s Degree in Agriculture: Plant Science from Tennessee State University (TSU) with an emphasis in GIS.  She is a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) and a Geographic Information Specialist (GISP). Alicia has worked as a Water Resources Associate Project Manager for Wood Environment and Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. for 17 years and primarily works on contracts for the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency for NFIP’s Mapping Program and the Hazard Mitigation Office.  She specializes in the Outreach and Communications aspects of the FEMA Project Life Cycles. These duties have honed her skills in explaining technical ideas in a manner that is easily relatable.  

She was raised on a peach farm as a fifth-generation farmer in Middle Tennessee where she started quilting with her grandmother, mother and sister at an early age. She has made dozens of quilts in both traditional patterns as well as modern. She has been a student of Ricky Tim’s Rhapsody quilt creation method and Judith Baker Montano’s Crazy Quilting methods for the past 6 years. She has studied with them in their personal studios. She is an active member of Quilts of Valor. Below are examples of quilts she has finished recently.  She enjoys sharing her passion for quilting with others.
