Neighbors suggested strongly that the Willow Oak Chorale would be a great fit for my wife and me since we liked to sing and wanted to meet new people. I was immediately impressed with the professionalism and level of performance by the Chorale. I soon discovered this approach was consistent throughout their organization.

I am excited to be joining the Board for Willow Oak. I was fortunate as a child to have the opportunity to take piano lessons, harp lessons, and art lessons. These absolutely enriched my life and inspired me and led me to ultimately obtain a degree in Musical Arts (Harp). Now I want to give back and support such opportunities for other children and adults to be involved in the arts here locally in our community.

I am a Robertson County native, realtor, wife and mom of two sweet kiddos.  My only time spent living elsewhere were my 4 years at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  I’m a proud graduate of Springfield High School, which is where my love of music and the arts really developed during my time in show choir there.

As a newcomer to Springfield, I looked for opportunities to take art classes and to volunteer. I found both at Willow Oak Center for Arts and Learning. The art classes are fun and greatly expand my artistic abilities.

As a writer and author it is important to me to have a place in Springfield, like Willow Oak. Our kids need a creative place that allows them the opportunity to express themselves through music and arts. Our adult members of the community need it as well. My writing took a positive turn by taking writing classes at Willow Oak and through the Scribblers group. I am happy to serve on the Board of Directors. Come join the fun.

This year I received a call from Muzetta Miller to be a part of the board of directors for this wonderful organization and I couldn’t have been happier because the arts are near and dear to my heart. As someone who has sung in the church, high school and collegiate choirs, played the alto saxophone throughout high school, and even took private voice lessons from the amazing Muzetta Miller, my answer was immediately yes!

As a Realtor, my Community is my passion. It goes beyond subdivisions and rural homes. It’s the creatives that I love, the entrepreneurs going for it, the bakeries, the coffee houses, the hole in the wall restaurants, the boutiques that sell local artist wares, the small farmers with their CSA’s, the talented actors, musicians, and singers that entertain us with their top notch performances, it’s the creative people that make Robertson County so special to me.

I serve on the Board of Directors because I believe that every person in Robertson County should have the opportunity to develop and bloom through the arts.  Through its many offerings, Willow Oak provides the chance for all ages to express themselves and to develop those aptitudes with which they are blessed.

Willow Oak had been on my radar for years.  So when Muzetta asked me to serve on the board, a new door opened and I stepped through it.  The reason for serving is simple: I love the arts and I want to see music and the arts promoted in the larger community, especially with children.  What’s the old song say? “Music is a universal language and love is the key; to peace, love and understanding; and living in harmony…” That says it for me.

Willow Oak serves the community in the most passionate yet deserving way. As someone who was in choir most of their school years, I value the opportunities that Willow Oak provides to everyone but especially our youth. I truly believe that it is such a privilege that Robertson County gets to experience an organization that allows people to find their inner creativeness.  Serving on Willow Oak’s board is an honor and I look forward to giving back to my community.
