Visual Arts:  “One Stroke” Painting

High school to adults

Thursdays, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29   6:00-8:00 pm

Students will learn the Donna Dewberry Method of One Stroke Painting.

Using specific brushes and supplies for this technique, they will learn and

practice actual strokes in every class, how to paint flowers and leaves, and

how to arrange them on a canvas.  Each student will complete two paintings.

Melanie Woodall, instructor/certified in the Dewberry One Stroke Painting method

Cost: $100 +  $50 supply kit (includes paints, brushes, canvases specific to this painting style;

student will keep supplies)


Painting Parties  High school to adults

Enjoy a fun evening while creating an acrylic painting you’ll take home that night! 

$35 includes instruction and all supplies.

Spinning:  Fiber Spinning  Middle School to Adults

Mondays, Mar 3-31  6:00 – 7:30 pm

Advanced Beginner to intermediate students  This class is for spinners who wish to hone their skills, brush up or learn playing techniques, or for those with questions about or have problems with their wheels, etc.  Teacher and student led.

Knitting: “Put a Sock in it!”  Middle School to Adults

Tuesdays, Feb 4–Apr 15  6:30-8:00 pm

If you’ve ever wanted to learn to knit socks, here’s your chance!

Students will knot a simple pair of shortie socks.  Pattern will be provided.

** Students need to bring 270 yards or (100 g) DK sport weight wool yarn, 1 set of size 3,  7” double pointed knitting needles (5 to a set),  and a 3” stitch holder.

Students must know how to cast-on, knit, purl, increase/decrease, and cast-off.  We will be “knitting in the round” and using the “long-tail” cast-on method.  If you’re not familiar with either of these methods, it would be to your advantage to research YouTube/internet or contact me in advance of class for a private lesson.

Knitting: Beginning Knitting  Middle School to Adults

Thursdays, Feb 6-27  6:30-8:00 pm

Learn to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease and cast off.

Supply fee includes kit containing Brittany wooden knitting needles and yarn. ($20)

Cost: $60 + $20 supply fee   Denise Rostan-Haley, instructor


Knitting: Knitting in the Round  Middle School to Adults

Thursdays, Mar 6-13  6:30-8:00 pm

Students must know how to cast-on, knit, purl and cast off.  Learn to make seamless garment; mittens, hats, gloves.  In class, students will complete a mug cozy.  Supply fee includes kit containing 1 set of Brittany wooden double pointed knitting needles and yarn to complete cozy. ($20)

Knitting: After Beginning Knitting  Middle School to Adults

Thursdays, Mar 27-May 1  6:30-8:00 pm

Explore simple stitch combinations; ribbing, seed stitch, simple lave work and student led.  Students need prior knowledge of casting on, knitting, purling, increasing/decreasing and casting off.  Students should being their own yarn and needles.

Introduction to Calligraphy

Ages 10 to Adult

Session I:  Mondays, Feb 3, 10, 17, 24  7:00-8:30 pm

Session I:  Tuesdays, Feb 4, 11, 18, 25  10:00-11:30 am

Session II:  Mondays, Mar 24, 31, Apr 7, 14  7:00-8:30 pm

Do you wish you could write beautifully? Address envelopes with a flourish?  Is there an untouched calligraphy pen that you want to learn how to use?  Then join us for a fun opportunity to try your hand at beautiful lettering!

Beginners will start with the basics – pen angle, spacing, rhythm – plus experiment with a variety of pens, inks, and lettering styles.

Advance at your own pace to learning specific “hands” – italic, uncial, copperplate, etc.  You are welcome to bring specific projects that you want to letter.  Then you won’t want to miss this opportunity to learn calligraphy from a professional. You will learn the basics of good lettering – pen angle, spacing, rhythm – plus experiment with a variety of pens, inks, and lettering styles.

Cost:  $48 + $8 supply fee

Computers: Picasa & Your Pictures

Middle School to Adult

Mondays, February 10, 17, 24, March 3  Noon – 1:00 pm

Learn techniques for editing and managing your images using Picasa, a free photo editing and managing software from Google. This class will cover editing, straightening, cropping, resizing, color correction, red eye and adding text to your images. Create a collage, and make a picture video. After editing you’ll learn how to share, print and upload your images on to the Internet.

You will need a laptop, a Google account (it’s free), your camera and a way to transfer the images from your camera to the laptop (a cord or a card that plugs into your computer).

Computers: iPad and iPhone 101

Middle School to Adult

Mondays, March 10, 17, 24, 31 (4 classes)  Noon – 1:00 pm

Tips, Tricks, and Basic How To’s for your iPad and iPhone. Learn about your General Settings, backing up your data, updating your device, email, browsing the Web, install, organize and delete your Apps, taking pictures and videos (and sharing them), Facetime, being “Social” and a lot more.

You will need your iPad or iPhone, your iTunes/Apple ID and password.
