Creative Writing Workshop April 25, 2015

Creative Writing Workshop

So you want to write but…you’re not sure how to get started or do you find yourself blocked when faced with a blank page? Then this workshop is for you! Part presentation, part inspiration, part writing — you’ll not only learn tools to help carry you through those first few sentences or verses, but you’ll actually be writing during the workshop. Working on a project? Great! Have something you have always wanted to write but haven’t done it? Wonderful! This IS the workshop for you. Bring paper, pen or pencil and be ready to find your muse and your words. This will be a fun time to explore and play. Check your doubts and your critical voices at the door, please. This will be a “can do” environment designed to encourage and stimulate.

Creative Writing Workshop Willow Oak Center for Arts & Learning

The first hour will focus on why we write and where our ideas come from. We’ll play with exercises and prompts designed to tease your imagination out of hiding and onto the page. The second hour will build upon the first so you’re taking random thoughts, images, ideas, and forming sentences on to the page. There will be opportunities for sharing some of your writing but only if you want to — there will be no obligation. The workshop will focus more on fiction, nonfiction and memoir, but no matter the genre, you will gain from our time together! Although computers are allowed, I encourage you to use paper with pen or pencil.   [animate animation=”shake” duration=”45s” iteration=”10″]
